Favourite Harry Potter – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

In my opinion, this is the best Harry Potter movie so far. It was tons of action, suspense and was a thrilling movie to watch. Throughout this movie, Harry learns more and more and there happens to be killing but no one knows who it is. Harry seeks out to find this killer and it turns out to be a snake. Tom Riddle – who was deceiving Harry was the one behind all this. And it was a classic hero movie – Good guy wins over bad guy.

Chicago Sun-Times Roger Ebert

Brimming with invention and new ideas, and its Hogwarts School seems to expand and deepen before our very eyes into a world large enough to conceal unguessable secrets — What a glorious movie.

Entertainment Weekly Lisa Schwarzbaum

And among the things this ”HP” does very well indeed is deepen the darker, more frightening atmosphere for audiences of all ages already familiar with the intricacies of the ”Potter” landscape. (This is as it should be: Harry’s story is supposed to get darker.)

Variety Todd McCarthy

Darker and more dramatic, this account of Harry’s troubled second year at Hogwarts may be a bit overlong and unmodulated in pacing, but it possesses a confidence and intermittent flair that begin to give it a life of its own apart of the literary franchise, something the initial picture never achieved.

LA Weekly Ella Taylor

Columbus’ sequel is faster, livelier and a good deal funnier than his original, due to the presence of some new characters.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter had another satisfying movie – Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It also saw a tragic ending and the end for Dumbledore. Which makes it interesting for the next movie – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which is being made into two movies. I think Half Blood Prince could have been longer which would’ve allowed to be more detailed. I thought it was a good movie, they managed to make it a little funny as well, had some action and the ending was interesting as Dumbledore died. Overall, it was a good movie – could have been longer though. I don’t think the audience would mind that at all.

Salon.com: Stephanie Zacharek
The most beautiful magic in it is left unseen. And still, it emerges with absolute clarity.

Village Voice: Scott Foundas
Generally grim, occasionally startling, and altogether enthralling sixth chapter in a movie franchise that keeps managing to surprise just when one would expect it to be puttering along on auto-broomstick.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Lisa Schwarzbaum
But the story is, still and all, only a pause, deferring an intensely anticipated conclusion. And it’s in that exquisite place of action and waiting that this elegantly balanced production emerges as a model adaptation.

Philadelphia Inquirer: Steven Rea
Slower and talkier than the five Potters that came before – but not necessarily in a bad way – Half-Blood Prince is a bubbling cauldron of hormonal angst, rife with romance and heartbreak, jealousy and longing.

Blackberry is a product used world-wide and it relates to Communication Technology because we use it to communicate and socialize with our friends, family and employees. CBC Radio or just radio is way to connect and communicate with the audience and the host. Computer is a huge part of our daily life and it is used for pretty much everything. You can communicate with anyone from anywhere via e-mail, instant messaging etc… Garageband is a program I used in communication technology for my audio project. It allowed me to record sound and edit it. IMovie is another program which I experienced and used in communication technology. It allowed me to import videos and edit them to make a movie. Internet is used everyday in our life for things like these. It’s a huge part and reason why people all over the world can stay connect and it’s basically used by everyone around the world. The Vampire Diaries

The Vampire Diaries is another hit show that catching audience attention. It’s a thrilling neck-biting hit, where 2 vampires that are brothers, one is good, while the other one is bad. One  is a sneaky blood sucking vampire, while the other one feeds off animals. They are both completely different characters, as one is quiet, private, the other one being evil, sneaky, abnoxious. The evil one has a plan to bring the vampires back and there is also a mysterious character that turns out to be a witch which changes the whole plot. I don’t think it’s a bad show but it could be better. I wouldn’t seeing more killing on the show while police and every one is trying to find out who the culprits are.

Here are a few reviews from critiques:

    New York PostLinda Stasi

These killers are more fun than a cemetery full of psycho zombie killers on Halloween.

    Los Angeles TimesMary McNamara

In between bouts of underage drinking, texting, girl-bonding, and the inevitable minor-key whine of a soundtrack, that is. “True Blood Lite” or “Transylvania 90210.” And you know what? It is. Almost exactly. But this is not a bad thing, not a bad thing at all. Because Vampire Diaries knows precisely what it is–a Gothic romance–and doesn’t try to be anything else.

    Pittsburgh Post-GazetteRob Owen

As teen shows go, the pilot is entertaining enough; future episodes will reveal if the show truly has much bite.

    Dexter

Dexter is a show that comes on Bravo. It’s a very thrilling show and even though the main character, Dexter Morgan is considered a bad guy because he kills people, it’s an interesting show to watch because he only kills bad people and his dad is the one that created a monster. Dexter realizes he has a problem and he is always trying to protect his identity while working as a blood specalist. His work amazes people as he can tell how and what angle the murder happened. He is a very smart character and he is good at keep his secret. Most people would never suspect him as a serial killer as he looks like an innocent and weak character although he can be creepy and gruesome. Later on, he has a girlfriend, Rita, who starts to change his life and his behaviour changes. Rita kids impact his life as well but once again, he sets himself apart and knows they can never know his other side. It’s a very mysterious yet exciting show and it’s probably the best show right now. I love this show and don’t have anything bad to say about it so I would recommend people to watch this show.

Here is something a few critcs had to say:

    New York Daily NewsDavid Hinckley

It’s bold, different and exciting, with a central character and performance that take your breath away.

    Chicago TribuneMaureen Ryan

To deny yourself the engrossing “Dexter” based on its subject matter would be to miss out on one of television’s most fiendishly intelligent new dramas.

    The New York TimesAlessandra Stanley

Violence, like deficit spending, is a very American vice. “Dexter” is yet another temptation that is almost impossible to resist.

    New York PostAdam Buckman

“Dexter” is a proficiently produced crime drama. Its best feature is its star, Michael C. Hall, who applies just the right touch to playing the nice, polite serial killer who lives next door.

    The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight was the greatest seller of all time. It had action, romanace, hero vs villian. It was an exciting, thrilling movie for people to see. Even I thought it was one of the greatest movies I had ever seen. The actor who played Joker did a wonderful job and was probably the best actor and villian ever. Usually people don’t cheer for the villians but as I was watching this movie, I was cheering more and more for Joker rather than the hero, Batman. I thought Batman did a decent job, he was outplayed by the Joker though although as a hero, he did a better job acting than more heroes. The movie itself had was very graphic, there were explosions, there was great fights that really got the attention of the audience.

If I had to rate the movie, I’d say it’s 9.5/10 – No movie can ever be perfect.

    Pitching an idea

When you’re pitching an idea, there are few things you need to think about. First, you need to think of an idea and think of the budget and time it will take to produce that idea. Then you need to do some research and gather enough information for the pitch. Before writing the pitch, try to pitch it to someone and try to get their approval. You don’t have to pitch your whole story, just the idea to get them thinking about it. If you get the approval, start writing your pitch and try to get it down to the most detail. When you’re pitching an idea in front of people, be professional and dress professional. Try to get a discussion going and encourage questions. If a client is having a problem understanding your pitch, explain it to them properly in order to gain their trust. Another thing to remember about pitching a story is to explain to the group why you’re pitching this idea and why it’s important for yourself and the audience. In order for a story to be good, there usually needs to be meaning behind it and the group you’re pitching to would most likely want to know why you’re pitching this and the meaning behind it.

After that… hope for the best!

    Animation Reflection

The most difficult part of the project I found about was the actual animation I had to do. You had to try creating a lot of the pictures in a moving motion. It was also hard to draw the picture itself as well because it’s not 3D and the pictures I created didn’t look so good and they weren’t 3D. The most difficult part of the program I found about is that, it was hard to try creating the images itself because it was hard to make curves because every time I made a curve line, it would make it straight on its own. I couldn’t make the shapes I preferred although it was able to make straight lines, which was good since I was doing stick figures. Another thing I found difficult about the project was that I couldn’t find out how to change the FPS for each slide because when I changed it, it would change it for the slides and it couldn’t let me have the animation in a flow motion. Before I started the program, I thought animation would be easy because its animation and you see it on television everywhere but it’s harder than it looks. Another part that was difficult was trying to have different angles for the pictures and making the images zoom in or out and trying to tilt your scenes until you can have good animation with different types of motion and angles. Otherwise, it was a great experience to learn from this program because now you can see how hard animation is and how it works.

    Audio Project Reflection

This project was a step by step project. I had to complete my proposal where I did my synopsis and knew exactly what I was going to do for my script, meaning the Production. Just before this project, I was already working with Garage Band on Mac and I already had recent experience so I knew exactly what to do and how to do it. I choose to do Audio because I wanted to try doing a sports radio play. I did research on it and found out how they do it. I wanted to see whether it could be difficult or not. I found out that it was definitely not easy because when you are trying to talk, you can easily mess up and it makes it really difficult to ignore this mistake and continue on with the script. I learned that you also had to be aware of the background noise you could make while recording such as paper, moving your chair. I also learned that it took more time editing than actually recording the script because there are so many errors that I had to edit and try to correct. If I could something differently, it would be what Mr. Negru told me. He told me that I should try to make it like a 5 minute sports radio where I can say “Here is 5 minute sports radio and this is what we are going to talk about etc…”. Overall, I think I did well for this project because I tried something new, I had good experience and I was successful. All the editing, reading, writing I learned from making the script, reading it and then editing it was good for my experience and I can learn from this. I might even consider doing it as a career because it was so much fun.
